Innovation Ecosystem Acceleration
ECO Industrial Park Network for the Alpine Regions — Exploiting the Smart and Circular Economy (ECOLE)
The project, funded by the Interreg Alpine Space Program, aims to support industrial parks in the Alpine Space in their transformation towards more circular economy and sustainability by providing tools, strategies, recommendations and exchange in a strong network.
Twelve project partners are part of the consortia from Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Switzerland and Slovenia. The project began in November 2022 and will end in October 2025.
TUMint contributes to the project in several ways:
- Benchmarking sustainability performance in eco-industrial parks and developing a framework for assessing sustainability and circular economy along the transformation process.
- Developing a process for managing eco-industrial parks, called the “systemic thinking community engagement model.”
- Provides an evidence-based assessment of why stakeholder engagement is essential to leveraging a smart and circular economy in industrial parks.
The project is managed by the Italian partner Consorzio ZAI Interporto Quadrante Europa. The other 10 partners from five Alpine countries are: Trieste Economic Development Agency (IT); Development agency Sora Ltd (SI); Regional Development agency of the Ljubljana (SI); Energy and Innovation Centre of WEIZ (AT); Wirtschaftsagentur Burgenland GmbH (AT); Landshut University of Applied Sciences (DE); Italian Chamber of Commerce Munich-Stuttgart (DE); Grenoble-Alps Metropole (FR); POLYMERIS (FR); and Lombardy Foundation for the Environment (IT).
More information about the project is available on the project website.
This project is co-financed by the European Union within the Interreg Alpine Space program.
