Technical Education, Capacity Building and Entrepreneurship

(TUM International)

Full-Time | 1 Year Initially | Munich | Starting date: June 2026 or later

Do you want to shape the future of engineering and technology education on a global stage?

Who We Are

TUM International GmbH (TUMint) is the international arm of the Technical University of Munich (TUM),  Europe’s leading technical university. We work at the forefront of building new education and innovation hubs around the world, together with visionary partners from academia, industry, and the public sector.

TUMint brings the strength of the Munich ecosystem — research excellence, startups, global corporates, and public institutions — into our international projects. Our work is interdisciplinary, international, and fast-moving. We design and deliver world-class technology education programmes and innovation hub that create lasting impact in emerging and high-growth markets.

What We Do

Our projects span from designing and launching new ecucational programmes at partner universities, to building innovation ecosystems, supporting technology entrepreneurship, and developing institutional capacity in our partner countries.

Our current portfolio includes more and more initiatives in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence — with a strong focus on regions where TUM’s expertise can have transformative impact. We work closely with governments, universities, and industry partners to ensure our programmes are academically rigorous, practically relevant, and built to last.

The Role

We are looking for a technically strong, internationally minded expert to join our team as a contributor to TUMint’s engineering and technology education projects. This is not a purely administrative role, it calls for someone with deep domain knowledge who can engage credibly with academic content, faculty, curriculum design, and the specific challenges of building high-quality education programmes in complex international environments.

You will work across multiple projects and thematic areas, contributing your technical expertise where it matters most: in the design of programme content, the assessment of academic quality, the development of partner capacity, and the promotion of technology entrepreneurship.

The work will furthermore be done under the supervision of Professor Hussam Amrouch, who is the Head of the Chair of AI Processor Design at TUM and the Director of the Munich Center for Hight-Tech AI Chips (MACHT-AI). This position may also offer the opportunity for the successful candidate to later be integrated into the Chair of AI Processor Design, enabling them to further develop their career and professional expertise.

Your Tasks

Education Programme Development

  • Contribute to the design, development, and continuous improvement of Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and AI at partner institutions worldwide.
  • Review and advise on curriculum content, learning outcomes, and assessment frameworks to ensure alignment with TUM’s academic standards.
  • Support the preparation and onboarding of partner university faculty, including workshops, training sessions, and teaching materials.

Capacity Building

  • Develop and deliver capacity-building programmes for academic staff and institutional leaders at partner universities.
  • Identify gaps in technical and pedagogical expertise at partner institutions and design targeted interventions to address them.
  • Support partners in building the institutional structures, processes, and culture needed for sustainable, high-quality engineering education.

Technology Entrepreneurship & Innovation

  • Contribute to TUMint projects that promote technology entrepreneurship, startup ecosystems, and innovation culture in partner institutions and countries.
  • Help design and deliver programmes that connect engineering students and graduates with industry, entrepreneurship, and real-world problem solving.
  • Draw on TUM’s Munich ecosystem — research institutes, incubators, corporate partners — to enrich TUMint’s international programmes.

Project Contribution & Coordination

  • Work collaboratively within TUMint’s project teams, contributing technical expertise to project planning, partner dialogue, and quality assurance.
  • Prepare technical inputs for reports, proposals, presentations, and partner communications.
  • Represent TUMint at partner meetings, academic events, and international conferences as required.

What We Are Looking For

Academic Background

The following academic background is required. We will not consider applications that do not meet these criteria:

  • Master’s degree (MSc) — minimum requirement in one of the following disciplines: Computer Science |   Computer Engineering   |   Electrical Engineering
  • PhD (strongly preferred) in one of the above disciplines — candidates with a doctorate bring a depth of technical credibility that directly supports TUMint’s academic positioning.
  • TUM graduates are especially welcome to apply. Familiarity with TUM’s academic culture, standards, and values is a genuine advantage in this role.
  • Proven experience in academic programme management, international education, or a closely related field (desired).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects across different organisations and cultures.
  • Excellent command of English (working language of the programme); knowledge of German is an advantage.

Experience

  • Experience in an academic, research, or technical education environment — you understand how universities work from the inside.
  • Exposure to curriculum development, programme design, or academic quality assurance is a strong advantage.
  • Experience working in or with international contexts — cross-cultural collaboration, international projects, or time spent abroad.
  • Any background in technology entrepreneurship, innovation ecosystems, or startup environments is a plus.

Skills & Attributes

  • Deep technical knowledge in your discipline — you can engage with faculty and curriculum content at a peer level.
  • Clear, confident communicator in English (working language); German is a strong advantage, additional languages welcome.
  • Analytically sharp and detail-oriented, with the ability to assess academic content critically and constructively.
  • Collaborative team player who can also work independently and take ownership of tasks.
  • Comfortable with international travel and working across different cultural and institutional contexts.
  • Motivated by mission — you believe that access to excellent engineering education can change countries, not just careers.

Why Join TUMint?

  • Work at the intersection of one of the world’s top technical universities and some of the most dynamic education reform initiatives globally.
  • A role with genuine technical depth — your expertise will directly shape the quality of programmes that thousands of students will experience.
  • An international, diverse, and mission-driven team that moves fast and takes quality seriously.
  • Exposure to a wide portfolio of projects across different countries, disciplines, and partnership models.
  • Munich as your base — one of Europe’s most innovative cities, with direct access to TUM’s research and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
  • Competitive compensation and the professional environment of a TUM-affiliated institution.
